The Politics of Division: Will It Doom Us All?

The most endangered minority in the United States of America is not any single ethnicity, religion, transgender, or anything else but the individual.  Individualism is under relentless attack in order to berate a free thinking person into the collective notion of conformity.   Conform or be ostracized, smeared, and attacked from every quarter of the establishment into the hive mentality.

Pause a moment to survey the political landscape of the recent years and you will arrive at the conclusion that the politics of division will sooner rather than later, doom us all.

From the local level to the federal level, these divisive antics by political operatives and their main-stream-media cohorts are tearing our society apart.   Your intuition should be screaming in your head by now that there is a puppet master pulling your strings and and you should be terrified by how so many are easily manipulated and deceived to react predictably.

The response known as ‘Pavlov’s Dogs’ was the experiment which demonstrated you can condition a predictable response from a subject.  Pavlov would ring a bell, before feeding his dogs.  Then he rang the bell without feeding the dogs, and they would react as if they were being fed to the point of salivating.  This is an example of a predictable conditioned response.  Frightening, but it works on people too.  We are witnessing a pattern of contrived discord and division that will lead to our eventual undoing, taking us down the path to loss of freedom, and despotic centralized government control over everything called Statism.*

“*Authoritarianism views a strong, authoritative state as required to legislate or enforce morality and cultural practices. The ideology of statism espoused by fascism holds that sovereignty is not vested in the people but in the nation state, and that all individuals and associations exist only to enhance the power, prestige and well-being of the state. It repudiates individualism and the family and exalts the nation as an organic body headed by the Supreme Leader”

Permit me to share with you instruction I learned from my training and experience serving in the U.S. Army assigned to the Office of the Assistant Chief of Staff for Intelligence at the Pentagon, Defense Intelligence Agency, Intelligence and Security Command, and other disciplines in the arena of intelligence and vulnerability analysis.

Look at the U.S. through the eyes of a foreign intelligence analyst measuring patterns for potential vulnerabilities to exploit in the case of hostilities.  The policy of the current administration has been the gutting of our military strength and the culling of our experienced non-commissioned Officers at the squad leader level, the Officer Corps at the Battalion, Division and Group Command levels, not to mention the reduction in rank and file troop strengths. Cutting the quantity of troops provide foreign analysts with a measurable predictable impact on readiness. Removing trained and experienced leaders from command provides the grist for foreign analysts to study the immeasurable long term impact on readiness.

Such analysts would not conclude that our individual soldiers are stronger in combat or our conventional warfare posture is more formidable.  None of these facts will inspire greater confidence in our allies or influence deterrent fear in our enemies. If we were to read the summary pages of a foreign Top Secret intelligence analysis reports, our national security posture would appear to them to be on a trajectory of increasing military weakness, to be morally confused, and to be politically irresolute.

When the U.S. was attacked on Dec. 7th, 1941 and again on Sept. 11th, 2001, individual citizens of this nation from every state of the Union rallied together as one nation – as one, indivisible, American people.   Our enemies learned how strong we are when we are united, and conversely how weak we are when divided.

“He who controls the past controls the future.  He who controls the present controls the past.” – George Orwell, Nineteen Eighty-four

In 2015, the mass media and Federal government, along with others are revisiting the Civil War for no other purpose than to inflame another social one.  Consider the historic fact that no American war ever produced more American casualties than the Civil War.  To put this fact in perspective think about how in only three days of fighting at Gettysburg, 51,000 Americans were killed. In comparison, during three years of fighting in the Korean War, 54,246 Americans were killed and in ten years of fighting in Vietnam, 58,220 Americans were killed.  There is no palatable explanation for revisiting the Civil War, except to drive an agenda driven by the politics of division that would blame a Civil War era battle flag for the evil act of a psychotic spree killer in a South Carolina Church.  What is the predictable conditioned response? Discord and division.

Everyday policing action by law enforcement is now colored by the predisposition of wrong-doing by individual officers, aimed at demoralizing the entire community of professional law enforcement officers.  This in an attempt to diminish public respect for them, instigate greater flashpoints of conflict, leading to violence, and riotous behavior, as we have witnesses in places like Ferguson, Mo. and Baltimore, Md. for nothing more than political advantage.

Promoters of racial discord and dividers of social unity are converting the beauty of our ethnic diversity and cultural mosaic, into contentiousness and blame assignment for the evil actions of psychotic criminals who have engaged in spree killings in Florida, Colorado, and most recently in South Carolina.  What is the predictable conditioned response?  Discord and division.

“Doublethink means the power of holding two contradictory beliefs in one’s mind simultaneously and accepting both of them.” – George Orwell, Nineteen Eight-four.

Further, pitting the religious sensibilities of people of faith against others who do not follow a religious world view leads to the same divisions. Forcing some by the power of the Federal government to act in a way that to them is an inviolable, religious, holy sacrament, is not proper when in reality many people believe that, under the cover of law, nothing more than a civil union is being licensed by the state for tax and division of chattel purposes.

Forcing a secular belief onto a religious people and vice versa does not make either group of individuals more free, but instead diminishes all freedoms by surrendering to the central government the power to redefine the meaning of a civil marriage as being equal to a religious one.  Conformity by force and intimidation is not freedom for anyone when the government is now empowered to legislate morality. What is the predictable conditioned response? Discord and division.

Locally in Rockland County, New York, the infection of division between communities is festering into ugly disputes between political parties, candidates, elected officials, and it is pitting neighbor against neighbor in towns like Ramapo.  Self-imposed and forced segregation of ethnic private and public school students, real estate developers pulling the strings of zoning boards and Town Supervisors, make for a situation that is becoming increasingly volatile, hostile, and dastardly.  Public discourse has devolved into name-calling between activist and advocates on both sides of the divisive issues.  Anti-Semitic videos, counter-anti-Semitic accusations in blogs and other reactionary videos, heated arguments over what is a sect or what is a religion, are all fueling fragmentation of one of the most, religiously and culturally diverse communities in New York State.  All this discord and division stems from the outcome of the predictable conditioned ‘Pavlov’ response.

If Rockland County is the ‘canary in the coal mine’ for the rest of the country, then at this rate the canary isn’t going to make it.   The American motto: “E Pluribus, Unum” means, “From the many, one.”  It is meant as a reminder of just what is the American character.  That from many peoples, clans, tribes, and nations that converged on the American land mass, from North to South, and from East to West, there was forged a single nation of diverse peoples.

This is who we are.   America is not brick and mortar or parchments with noble words inscribed on them guarded in the National Archives.  We are one people, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.   Should a generation wake up tomorrow with collective amnesia and forget our national identity, it may rend itself apart because of perceived differences and because some refuse to conform to a collective hive of similitude.  Then the nation conceived in liberty under the presupposition that all men are created equal will be truly doomed. You see conformity is not equality.

The most endangered specie in the United States of America is the individual and so each of us must strive to preserve our individuality, our family traditions, our personal moral compass.  Each of us must strive to celebrate our diversity because it is our shared heritage and to reject it would usher in our shared demise.

Let us therefore reject those who seek to divide us.  The only way to conquer a free people is if they are willing to wear the chains of their own enslavement as jewelry and wear a cattle brand as a government’s fashionable tattoo.

Sorry, but on a local level, I disagree. Specifically in Ramapo, the community is more united than ever before. People of every age, race, religion, socio economic status have come together to say that the treatment of the public school students is untenable, even racist.

You don’t see disagreements or turf wars between Puerto Rican’s and Haitian’s or African Americans or Whites. You don’t see Jews fighting Muslims or Christians. Nobody gives a fig about who prays to what God, or if you don’t believe in God at all.

None of that is an issue. But, yes, there is certainly a war. That war started at Town Hall. CSL fanned the flames of that war by catering to one groups of people while disenfranchising the whole of the Town. People will take a lot of abuse and punishment for a long time. But when you mess with their children, all bets are off. The Ultra Orthodox and Hasidic community decided to seize power over the public schools. Many of these white, Ultra/Hasidic men have not completed high school themselves. Frankly, they could care less about the 9,000 public school students and they are just an inconvenience and stumbling block towards the goal of publicly funded Yeshivas. They care only about making sure their community gets more than their fair share, the law be damned! When you mess with a child’s education, you mess with their future.

There simply is no way to fix ERCSD without government intervention. If took government intervention to stop segregation in Brown vs Board of education. The dire situation in ERCSD must receive the same intervention. This war has begun and it must come to a conclusion. Rights of students to a decent education including mandated must be restored under the NYS constitution.

There is no melting pot with the insular Ultra Orthodox/Hasidic community. The rest of the community is getting along just fine, as diverse as Ramapo is. The puppet masters you refer to are the Rebbes of each sect.

The enemy is well known and there are 9,000 Ruby Bridge’s in ERCSD who will not be forgotten or ignored. One day, we will soon be ‘free at last’!
